Confessions of a Shopaholic - Sophie Kinsella

Before I had even read the first page I posted a status update on Goodreads that there was a very good chance that I was going to toss the book across the room in frustration. See, quite a few years ago I read one of the books in this series….Shopaholic and Sister and honestly, I really did not like it. Or rather, I absolutely despised Becky Bloomwood and from then on, I had, on principle, avoided any other books in the series. Despite you know, actually enjoying almost all the standalone novels that Sophie Kinsella has written.

Becky Bloomwood still annoyed me. I have never been a shopper and I certainly have never been in debt (thankyouverymuch) especially from shopping…so it was extremely difficult for me to relate to Becky but surprisingly I found Shopaholic to be an enjoyable distraction on a rainy evening. It was funny and actually kind of sweet at times and by the end I may have even developed just the faintest hint of affection for Becky.

Probably will still avoid the rest of the series but at least I can no longer judge an entire series of books on one novel, that I very well may have disliked entirely because I hadn’t read the first book in the series. Or perhaps it honestly was a bad book
