Wonder Boys - Michael Chabon

I finished The Wonder Boys yesterday morning, and already I'm struggling with how the heck I'm suppose to write a review. I'm not even sure if I can manage to put together a summary...

The Wonder Boys is one of those novels that you read, and you aren't quite sure what happened. Or at least, you know what happened but to try to put it into words? Just about impossible.

Or maybe I'm just taking a cop out. That could be...

Initially I was confused by The Wonder Boys. As I read the first chapter I thought for sure I was reading an introduction to the book as it was not quite clear whether we had already stepped into the novel...and as the summary is extremely vague, or whether we were into the novel.

Eventually though, I got my head on straight and was able to read the novel without much more confusion. I did enjoy the book, or at the very least, I very much enjoyed Chabon's prose...which was absolutely beautiful but honestly, I cannot say whether or not I enjoyed the actual story. If you really think about it...the characters are fairly despicable aside from a few more minor characters. The action is mostly inaction yet because of Michael Chabon's prose...it's hard to just completely dismiss this as a disaster.
