This was the second book I've read by Lori Lansens and I wanted to love it just as much as I had loved The Girls...but the most I can admit to is that The Wife's Tale was okay. Just okay.
I actually didn't like Mary very much. I'm not exactly sure why I didn't like her...it's not as if she did anything in the book to dislike her but somehow I found myself sympathizing more with her absent husband.
I was also disappointed by the end. It just ends, without any sort of conclusion. Although I didn't care much for Mary, I didn't just want to leave her without knowing what was going to come of her and her situation.
Overall, I liked the writing but felt overly unsatisfied by the experience of reading this book. Too many unanswered questions and too many loose ends.
