Olive Kitteridge - Elizabeth Strout

I’m happy to report that despite the fact I have not had time to blog, I have been reading steadily. Since my last review, I managed to complete five new books (which eventually I’ll get around to blogging about). I can’t be completely sure, but I’m going to venture to say that Olive Kitteridge was the book that saved me from my reading slump…

Though it took me a few chapters (or short stories if you will) to fully get back into the swing of things…I soon found myself completely immersed in this book. Part novel, part collection of connected short stories, part elaborate character sketch…I found myself equally disliking and loving Olive Kitteridge (the character, not the book). By the time I had reached the end…I still wasn’t completely sure my dislike or love was stronger, but I knew that it was going to be a very long time before I forgot about Mrs. Kitteridge and the other inhabitants of Crosby, Maine.
